Hello Everyone! As you all probably know, our past week has been characterized by chaos. We've had some issues with water damage in our bathroom, living room and main storage closet. It's taken it's toll on us but I think the worst is over. I'll spare you all on the details and pictures of our mess and rather focus on some fun, distracting activities.

Yes, our little guy has had his first bites of rice cereal. And we congratulate him. But really, the congratulations goes to Patrick for passing his comprehensive exams (the ones he wrote in July). We heard the results late Friday evening (via an email) and have been meaning to celebrate since. We got busy and distracted on the weekend and didn't manage to do anything exciting. We tried to celebrate tonight with a bottle of Pinot Noir with supper but unfortunately the wine tasted more like balsamic vinegar than wine. (That's what we get for getting the sale item). We are still relieved and feel like we can move on to the next stage.

Well, Corinne and I have been into coffee drinking for a while. It mostly started when we were in Italy. We made a lot of coffee at home in our stove top espresso maker (called a moka pot). But we also kind of fell in love with the espresso at the bars (in Italy, a bar is like a cross between a confectionery and cafe, but it also serves alcohol). Anyway, last year we got a great deal on a 'real' espresso machine, which makes coffee more like what you'd get in an Italian bar. But something was missing.
